Short Summary (English)

Two West Berlin boys, Max and Klaus, train daily to become boxers - both of them hope to have luminous careers as professional boxers. However; whereas their dreams and hopes are lofty and resplendent, the actual reality of the boys' social situation turns their dreams into unrealizable hopes.

Despite finishing school, Max still has not found an apprenticeship place and the chance that Klaus, who is just about to finish school, will find one doesn't look too promising either.

Actually the two boys wanted to buy a pair of boxing gloves, but Klaus' mother doesn't have the money for her monthly rent; so the boys sacrifice all their savings to pay the rent.

By chance the boys get acquainted with Jimmy. a small-time gangster; who gives them two tickets to the East Berlin Barlay Circus. The circus visit turns out to be a memorable event, both Max and Klaus are excited and impressed by it.

However; due to their precarious financial situation, the boys are forced to take on a questionable proposition from Jimmy and Klott. Their task, for a few marks' pay. is to go to the border between East and West Berlin to remove a piece of the wall that has been smashed. However; when Klaus is told to bring the Barlay Circus horses through the gap in the wall to West Berlin, he has second thoughts about the deal - subsequently. he turns the whole matter over to the police. The West Berlin police, however; do nothing to stop the horse theft. With the support of an East Berlin girl, Helli, who Klaus got to know during the visit to the circus, Klaus is now ready to inform the East German People's Police - and the gang is placed under arrest.

Short Summary (German)

Die Westberliner Jungen Klaus und Max leben in ärmlichen Verhältnissen. Ihr Traum ist eine Boxerkarriere, und um sich Boxhandschuhe fürs Training kaufen zu können, sparen sie jeden Pfennig. Doch es reicht nicht. Und so lassen sie sich vom Kneipenwirt Klott für ein krummes Geschäft anheuern. Durch Zufall kann Klaus ein Gespräch Klotts belauschen und erfährt, dass er sich an einem Pferdediebstahl im Ostberliner Zirkus "Barlay", wo er gerade neue Freunde gefunden hat, beteiligen soll. Er ist empört und sorgt in einer abenteuerlichen Aktion für die Verhinderung des Diebstahls.

Klaus e Max, due ragazzi bisognosi di Berlino ovest, nutrono il sogno di diventare pugili. Per comprarsi i guantoni risparmiano ogni centesimo. Vedendo che i soldi non bastano, si lasciano coinvolgere dall’oste Klott in uno sporco affare. Intercettando per caso una conversazione di Klott, Klaus scopre che dovrà partecipare al furto dei cavalli del Barlay, un circo di Berlino est in cui lavorano i suoi nuovi amici. In una mossa alquanto rischiosa, Klaus manderà a monte il furto. (Italienisch)

Les berlinois de l'ouest Klaus et Max vivent dans la pauvreté. Ils rêvent d'embrasser une carrière de boxeur et économisent chaque Pfennig pour s'acheter des gants de boxe. Mais cela ne suffit pas. C'est ainsi qu'ils se laissent embarquer dans des combines louches par le tavernier Klott. Par hasard, Klaus surprend une discussion de Klott et apprend qu'il doit participer à un vol de cheval dans le cirque est-berlinois Barlay, dans lequel il vient de se faire des amis.
